BS Brewing is a Portland collective of home brewers. Dave Selden and BS Brewing used the Scout Book to create this awesome Beer Journal, complete with a custom interior that begs for you to record your adventures in tasting fine brewed beverages.
Beer aficionados often refer to particular tastes of brews using words like “Toffee,” “Sulphury,” and “Floral.” BS Brewing developed a flavor wheel for you to easily track the tastes of each and every brew you try. Such innovation!

The Big Rock Eddies
In 1993 Ed McNally challenged friends of Big Rock to create their best beer commercials. Then he hosted a small private party at the Uptown Theater in downtown Calgary to preview them all. He had no idea the event would get so much attention and build the cult-like following that it has. The original thought was simple and genuine, “Who better to make Big Rock beer commercials than those who know and love our beer?”
About Big Rock Brewery
Big Rock Brewery donates all proceeds from the Calgary Eddies to the One Yellow Rabbit Performance Theatre, the Calgary Women’s Emergency Shelter and the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts.
Big Rock - headquartered in Calgary, Alberta - continues to produce premium, all-natural craft beers. Who said American Beers had no history?
Schell’s 150th Anniversary Beer
August Schell was born in 1828 in Durbach, Germany, located in the heart of the famous German “Schwarzwald,” otherwise known as the Black Forest region. August received an early education as a machinist/engineer but after a short time, became intrigued by the opportunities overseas. In 1848, August bid farewell to his mother and father, leaving his homeland in search of success in the United States.
August arrived in New Orleans and continued up the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers to Cincinnati where he worked as a machinist in a locomotive factory. It was here that he met the love of his life, Theresa Hermann. Theresa, also a German immigrant, and August wed in 1853.
In 1856, August, Theresa and their two baby daughters headed to Minnesota along with a group of fellow Germans known as the Cincinnati Turner Society. The Turner Society had heard from a group of German settlers in Southern Minnesota that their settlement was struggling to succeed. The two groups merged and formed the town of New Ulm.

Strongest beer title ‘reclaimed with Sink the Bismarck’
A controversial Scottish brewery has said it has reclaimed the title of the world’s strongest beer from German rivals - with Sink the Bismarck at 41%.
BrewDog, of Fraserburgh, made headlines last year when it unveiled a 32% beer called Tactical Nuclear Penguin. However, Schorschbrau released the 40% strength Schorschbock.
BrewDog said its newly released 41% Sink the Bismarck would cost £40 for a 330ml bottle and would only be sold online.Alcohol Focus Scotland has previously expressed concerns about BrewDog’s approach. But the company’s managing director James Watt said BrewDog was doing all it could to promote a new and responsible approach to beer drinking.
